Methuen Opens Preregistration for New Curbside Composting Program
The city has opened preregistration for a new curbside composting program, giving residents an organics-collection option for the first time as officials also push out fresh details on the fall election calendar.
TOWN HALL
Methuen has opened preregistration for a new curbside composting program run in partnership with Black Earth Compost, giving households a way to divert food scraps and yard waste from the regular trash stream. City officials framed the program as a low-effort way for residents to cut down on waste while helping the environment; sign-up details are posted on the city's website.
Election preparations are also underway. Vote-by-mail applications for the 2026 State Primary and State Election are now arriving in Methuen mailboxes, and eligible voters can use the postage-paid form to request a ballot for one or both elections. The city separately confirmed that in-person early voting for the State Primary will run August 22 through 28 at Sanborn Hall, with the deadline to apply for a mail ballot set for August 25 at 5 p.m.
