Methuen Opens Early Voting Window Ahead of 2026 State Primary

Registered Methuen voters got their first detailed look this week at how to cast a 2026 State Primary ballot early, as City Hall confirmed an eight-day in-person voting window at Sanborn Hall alongside a wave of vote-by-mail applications now landing in residents' mailboxes.

Early voting for the 2026 State Primary opens August 22 and runs through August 28, with in-person balloting available at Sanborn Hall, the city announced. Voters who prefer to cast a ballot by mail must submit an application no later than 5 p.m. on August 25; those applications are already arriving in Methuen mailboxes for both the State Primary and the State Election, and residents can request a ballot for one or both contests using the postage-paid form.

Separately, the city's preventive mosquito control program returned to parks, playgrounds, athletic fields and school recreation areas Monday night, with applications running from roughly 9 p.m. to midnight. The rain date fell on Tuesday, meaning some treatments may have been completed just ahead of today.
