Methuen Electric Rates Stay Locked Through 2027 Despite Grid Hike
METHUEN — Methuen residents on the city's municipal electricity aggregation program will be shielded from National Grid's latest Basic Service rate increase, with the city's locked-in supply rate holding through December 2027, according to a City Hall announcement Tuesday.

The city's electric aggregation program continues to insulate enrolled residents from swings in National Grid's Basic Service rate, which has risen again, the News Flash announcement said. Methuen's rate remains locked through December 2027, offering price stability for households on the program even as the utility's default rate climbs.
Separately, the city is preparing for the fall election cycle. Vote-by-mail applications for the 2026 State Primary and State Election are arriving in Methuen mailboxes now, and registered voters can request a ballot for either or both elections using the postage-paid form. Early voting for the State Primary runs August 22–28 at Sanborn Hall, with a deadline of August 25 at 5 p.m. to apply for a mail ballot.
The City of Methuen is also set to hold a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Community Involvement Meeting on July 29 to update residents on the program.
