Lynnfield's Ellen Crawford Named 2026 Commonwealth Heroine by State Women's Commission
A Lynnfield resident has received one of the state's top civic honors for women, according to Lynnfield Patch, while the town's public library keeps its summer calendar running despite an ongoing roof repair project.

The Lynnfield Public Library is open and fully operational through a roof repair underway this month, with its Summer Reading 2026 program — themed "Plant a Seed, Read" — active for participants of all ages. The library has also been promoting free digital streaming through Kanopy, available to any cardholder. A packed slate of in-person programs begins this week with children's and teen events at the library Tuesday and Wednesday.
SCHOOLS
With summer in full swing, Lynnfield Public Schools has posted summer assignments on the district website and is running three community competitions tied to the town's 250th anniversary: a photography contest, an art contest, and an essay contest. The district's 2026-27 school year calendar is available online; the first day of school for grades 1 through 12 is set for Wednesday, September 2.

At the library Tuesday, Summer Story Time runs from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for children ages 0 to 5, followed by Terrific Tuesdays with North Suburban Child & Family Resource Network at 4 p.m. and a Manga/Anime Hangout at 6 p.m. The library hosts "Ready, Set, GROW! with Mike Bent at MarketStreet" Wednesday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to noon, open to all ages. The Open Space & Recreation Working Group meets July 15, and the Conservation Commission holds its regular meeting July 21.
