Lynnfield Mourns Priest, Awaits Findings On July Death

LYNNFIELD — Lynnfield residents are mourning a Nigerian-born priest with ties to the community as officials continue investigating the circumstances of his July 2 death, according to a report from Patch. Closer to home, Town Hall posted a vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees and crews returned overnight to repave and paint town roads.

TOWN HALL

The town posted a vacancy notice for the Library Board of Trustees this week, according to the town's News Flash feed, though no further details on the opening or application process were provided. The Department of Public Works also flagged town-wide drain structure repairs as an active project.

Contractor K5 Line Painting worked with the DPW again this week striping roads that were recently repaved, continuing a stretch of overnight paving-related work that has kept crews out on town streets in recent days.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Lynnfield Public Library has its roof under repair this July, according to the library's website, and the library is running a Back to School Drive with Citizens Inn to collect supplies for families in need. The library's Summer Reading 2026 program, "Plant a Seed, Read," remains underway for the season.

On the events calendar, the library hosted the Delvena Theater Presents: "Mangia, Meatballs, and Murder" dinner-theater show Tuesday evening, alongside its regular Summer Story Time and Terrific Tuesdays programs with the North Suburban Child & Family Resource Network, and a teen DIY friendship bracelet craft kit.
