Groveland's Town Meeting Study Committee previews new amendment rules ahead of April 27 vote. Chair Joe D'Amore, who also handles the moderator's duties, told residents at an April 6 roundtable that voters must now write out proposed warrant-article changes on a "Motion to Amend" form and read them aloud, replacing the town's old practice of verbal floor amendments. D'Amore said the warrant should post online around April 9, and Town Meeting requires a 100-voter quorum; he's targeting turnout of 130 to 160, calling last year's showing "comfortably over" 100.
Amendments town counsel flags as legally defective, D'Amore said, are typically withdrawn so the original article can still get a vote. No votes were taken at the informational session.
