Crabtree Warns of Extreme Heat as Sewer Project Design Work Begins

SAUGUS — Town Manager Scott Crabtree issued back-to-back warnings this week over an extreme heat forecast and a separate air quality alert for Saugus, as the town also prepares for design work to begin Monday, July 20, on the Sewer Subsystem 1D Rehabilitation Project.

TOWN HALL Crabtree issued advisories warning residents of an extreme heat forecast and, separately, of an air quality alert affecting Saugus. The warnings follow an earlier notice from Crabtree flagging a high heat advisory forecast for the town, part of a string of summer heat messaging from the Town Manager's office.

Separately, the town announced that design work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 20, on the Sewer Subsystem 1D Rehabilitation Project.

COMMUNITY & ARTS The Saugus Public Library has opened a new exhibit in its Reading Room, "Forged in Saugus: Donna-Marie Mironchuk," on display July through August at the library, 295 Central Street.

The library's 2026 Summer Concert Series continues Wednesday, July 22, when Memorylaners returns to the big lawn at the Iron Works, according to the library.

COMING UP Monday, July 20 — Saugus Public Library hosts free Summer Reading Enrichment Program sessions for grades 1-2 at 9:30 a.m. and grades 3-5 at 10:30 a.m.; a previously scheduled Aspire Early Intervention Evaluation at 2 p.m. has been canceled, and a library event with Melissa Rodriguez is set for 2 p.m.
