Crabtree Issues High Heat Advisory for Saugus

SAUGUS — Town Manager Scott Crabtree issued a high heat advisory for Saugus on Tuesday, warning residents to take precautions as dangerously hot conditions move into the region, even as the town pushes ahead on a sewer rehabilitation project and the library rolls into the final weeks of its summer lineup.

Crabtree's office flagged the high heat advisory in a release Tuesday, urging residents to plan around the forecast conditions. The advisory follows a separate air quality alert Crabtree's office issued for Saugus in recent days as the town works through a stretch of summer weather advisories.

Separately, the town announced that design work is set to begin July 20 on the Sewer Subsystem 1D Rehabilitation Project, an infrastructure upgrade town officials flagged in a News Flash release.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Saugus Public Library's Reading Room is hosting "Forged in Saugus: Donna-Marie Mironchuk" through August, an exhibit spotlighting the local artist's work at 295 Central Street. The library's Iron Works summer concert series also continues this month on the lawn behind the building.

Elsewhere, Advocate News reports that Red Sox mascot Wally is scheduled to make an appearance at World Series Park, with a donation fishbowl set up at the event benefiting the Holden Avenue youth ballfield (read it at https://advocatenews.net/saugus/news/wally-coming-to-world-series-park/).

The library hosts a CFCE Storytime for ages 0-6 (registration required) Friday, July 17, at 9:30 a.m. The library will be closed all day Saturday, July 18. On Monday, July 20, the library runs its free Summer Reading Enrichment Program, with a Grades 1-2 session at 9:30 a.m. and a Grades 3-5 session at 10:30 a.m. The Saugus Retirement Board meets Tuesday, July 21.
