Crabtree Issues Heat Advisory, Air Quality Alert for Saugus

SAUGUS — Town Manager Scott Crabtree has issued a heat advisory and air quality alert for Saugus, urging residents to take precautions as high temperatures move through the region, while the town also prepares to break ground on a sewer rehabilitation project and the public library gears up for its next Iron Works summer concert.

TOWN HALL Town Manager Scott Crabtree issued a warning regarding a high heat advisory forecast for Saugus, along with a separate air quality alert, urging residents — particularly older adults, young children and those with respiratory conditions — to limit outdoor exposure and stay hydrated during the hot stretch.

Separately, the town announced that design work is set to begin July 20 on the Sewer Subsystem 1D Rehabilitation Project, an infrastructure upgrade affecting a portion of the town's wastewater system.

COMMUNITY & ARTS The Saugus Public Library's 2026 Summer Concert series continues Wednesday, July 22, when the band Memorylaners takes the stage on the library's Iron Works lawn, following a July 15 show by Renee Leavitt & the Renegades.

Also on view at the library is "Forged in Saugus: Donna-Marie Mironchuk," an exhibit running July through August in the library's Reading Room at 295 Central Street, spotlighting the local artist's work.

COMING UP The Retirement Board meets Tuesday, July 21; the Conservation Commission meets Wednesday, July 22; and the Zoning Board of Appeals meets Thursday, July 23, all at Town Hall.

The Saugus Public Library hosts free Summer Reading Enrichment programs Monday, July 20 — a session for grades 1 and 2 at 9:30 a.m. and one for grades 3 through 5 at 10:30 a.m. — along with a 2 p.m. program featuring Melissa Rodriguez that same day.
