SAUGUS — Town Manager Scott Crabtree issued an air quality alert for Saugus on Wednesday, a day after warning residents of a high heat advisory forecast, as the town continues to grapple with summer conditions affecting outdoor activity and public health.

Town Manager Scott Crabtree issued an air quality alert for Saugus on Wednesday afternoon, following a high heat advisory warning he issued the day before, according to the town's News Flash feed. The back-to-back advisories urge residents, particularly those with respiratory conditions, older adults, and children, to limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the current stretch of hot weather.
Separately, the town has announced that design work will begin July 20 on the Sewer Subsystem 1D Rehabilitation Project, an infrastructure initiative that will move into its next phase later this month.

The Saugus Public Library's Summer Concert series continues at the Iron Works Wednesday, July 22, with a performance by Memorylaners on the library's big lawn, following the July 15 concert featuring Renee Leavitt & the Renegades. The library also opened "Forged in Saugus: Donna-Marie Mironchuk," a new exhibit on display in the Reading Room through August at the library's 295 Central Street location.
The library's Adult and Teen Summer Reading programs remain underway, alongside the 2026 Pokemon-themed summer reading program for children, and the library's Yoga Experience class is on hiatus through August.

The library's Summer Concert series continues Wednesday, July 22, with Memorylaners performing at the Iron Works. Town boards also meet next week: the Retirement Board on Tuesday, July 21; the Conservation Commission on Wednesday, July 22; and the Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday, July 23.
