City Council convenes today as summer programming ramps up

LYNN -- The Lynn City Council convenes today for its regular session, while the Lynn Public Library kicks off a busy week of summer programming and the police department prepares for a weekend bicycle safety event.

The City Council meets today, July 7, at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, according to the city's community calendar. The session comes as the city continues work on several ongoing initiatives, including the Pickering School Building Project and roadway construction and infrastructure projects listed among the city's active priorities on its official site.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Lynn Public Library has posted its summer hours, in effect July 6 through September 7: all departments will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the library closed Saturdays and Sundays, plus a closure on Labor Day, Monday, September 7.

The library's "Plant a Seed" summer reading program continues for children, teens, and adults, with separate reading lists posted for each age group. A full slate of events is on tap for the coming days, including "Messy Mornings with the LPL" on Wednesday, July 8, from 10 to 11 a.m., and "Teen Tech Space" on Thursday, July 9, from 3 to 5 p.m.

The city also continues to promote its Downtown Lynn Cultural District and Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Hall and Museum, including curator-led programming and public tours, among its ongoing cultural offerings.
