Boston Children's $62M Peabody Campus Sale Raises Patient Questions
A $62 million sale of a Boston Children's Hospital campus in Peabody and a round of MBTA fare adjustments touted by Gov. Maura Healey topped the regional conversation heading into Wednesday, alongside continuing community fundraising efforts and library programming around the city.

The Peabody Institute Library continues to run its full slate of summer programming across all three branches, with the South and West branches now operating under updated hours effective July 6: Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Thursday 1-9 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (Fridays and Sundays closed). The Main Library on Main Street remains open seven days a week with extended weekday hours until 9 p.m.
The library's 2026 Summer Reading Challenge remains underway for all ages, and teens in grades 9-12 can join the "100 Books Before Graduation" program, logging reading on Beanstack to earn free books and prize eligibility. The library also continues to highlight its Sutton Room local history collection, its digitized Peabody newspaper archive stretching back to 1844, and online resources including Libby, Hoopla, Kanopy and Boston Globe access for cardholders.

The Pan-Mass Challenge, drawing more than 6,000 cyclists and 4,000 volunteers, is set for Aug. 1-2, with Peabody riders among the participants, according to Peabody Patch.
