Beauregard Names Jamie Moore Acting Methuen Police Chief
Mayor D.J. Beauregard on Monday named Capt. Jamie Moore acting chief of the Methuen Police Department, effective when Chief Scott J. McNamara retires Aug. 24, 2026, according to the city's News Flash announcement.

Beauregard's office said Moore will step into the department's top post the moment McNamara's retirement takes effect later this month. The city did not indicate in its announcement whether it plans to open a permanent search for chief or how long Moore is expected to serve in the acting role.
COMING UP
The Methuen Retirement Board and the Conservation Commission both meet Thursday, Aug. 20, at City Hall. Early in-person voting for the 2026 State Primary opens Saturday, Aug. 22, and runs through Aug. 28 at Sanborn Hall; residents requesting a mail ballot instead must apply by 5 p.m. Aug. 25. The Circle of Hope Family Support Group meets Monday, Aug. 24.
