Andover Baseball Association opens 2027 travel registration and sets mandatory mid-August tryout dates.

ANDOVER -- Youth baseball and soccer organizations issued a batch of registration deadlines and program dates this week, while a Patch listing pointed to new skating instruction starting locally.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Andover Baseball Association (ABA) travel registration opened July 1 and closes Aug. 12. Tryouts for the 2027 travel season are scheduled for Aug. 15-16 at Andover Station North Fields, and the ABA said the dates "are Mandatory and there will be no Make-up dates" for players who wish to be considered. The association noted that players trying out for the 12U and 13U levels could have their tryout date pushed to Sept. 10 "if the CRALL All Stars advance in the series." ABA is also holding Sandlot games for ages 18-21+ on Aug. 1-2, and Travel Prep Nights on Wednesdays, Aug. 5 and Aug. 12, at Andover Station North, with sessions by age group: 9U/10U from 5:30-6:20 p.m., 11U/12U from 6:30-7:50 p.m., and 13U/14U from 8-9:20 p.m. Applications to coach a travel team close Aug. 1.

Andover Soccer Association (ASA), which describes itself as the second-largest youth soccer association in Massachusetts with roughly 1,500 players, 200-plus volunteer coaches and 70 youth referees, began its new soccer year July 1, with 2026 registration open and its merchandise store now live. Upcoming dates on ASA's calendar include an Aug. 1 fee increase for Intown grades K-3, a Seacoast United summer soccer camp for grades K-8 Aug. 17-21, a coaches training session Aug. 22, a travel soccer pre-season camp Aug. 25-27, ASA's Fall Coaches Meeting Aug. 26, and a golf tournament fundraiser Aug. 31.

COMMUNITY -- Patch reported July 22 that new semi-private power skating and stick handling lessons were set to begin "next week" in Andover.
